How Kitchen Rush works: the head chef who never cooks

A finger dragging chefs onto the coloured zones of a kitchen

Most cooking games hand you a knife. Kitchen Rush hands you a brigade. You are the head chef, and the head chef never cooks: every chef in your kitchen works on their own, and your one job is deciding who works where.

Drag a chef onto a zone

The kitchen is split into coloured zones: prep, cutting, the hot line, the pass, the dish pit, and in the Asian kitchen a sushi bar. Pick a chef up and drop them on a zone. They walk over and get on with whatever that zone needs, from washing rice to plating ramen.

Tap to open

When every chef has a place, tap anywhere. A short count, the doors open and the first guests walk in. Orders arrive as tickets with pictures, not words, so there is almost nothing to read.

Keep them moving

A shift never stays the same for long. The meze tickets pile up, then everyone wants something from the grill. When an order is stuck because nobody is on its zone, a green line shows which chef to send. Moving the brigade at the right moment is the whole game.

Short shifts, three stars

A shift lasts a few minutes. Coins come from dishes served and tips from guests who did not wait long. Earn enough for one, two or three stars, and a star opens the next episode on the globe.
